I was a bit apprehensive about doing the course “internet-style” as I had tried distance learning courses before and struggled to get through them and keep motivated. Thank you for making it so easy, making me feel like I was your only pupil and always being at the end of an email. I feel I had just as much access, if not more, as I would have had if I had attended the class.

I would just like to say how informative and interesting the one day Medical Terminology Training Course you ran at Harrogate and District Foundation Trust was.

It was unanimous amongst the group how much we all learnt and how much we enjoyed the course. Being taught the skills to really understand and to learn to dissect the medical terminology will benefit us all in our job roles.

Gill’s knowledge is unbelievable and she really captivated the audience. She is a dynamic teacher who used a variety of teaching methods to ensure we all had fun whilst learning.

I also really appreciate that our group bombarded Gill with questions constantly- and I appreciate how she tailored the course to suit our needs.

If I had not done this course, I would not now be Band 5 I really am truly grateful to you. I also thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the course it was all so easy to understand and logical. I admit it was a lot to take in and absorb but well worthwhile and the best money I have ever spent - very fulfilling I really felt I had achieved something worthwhile. Its never too late to start learning (I was 52 at the time).

I was very unsure as to how I would progress on the course but my confidence has grown week by week. When a job came up at the surgery for a medical secretary (the job I really wanted to do) 6 weeks after I started I was encouraged to apply, and I start in 4 weeks!

I would never have applied or had the confidence to grab this opportunity without the support and encouragement you and your team have given me over the last few months. My life has totally changed for the better and I'm finally doing a job I really love.

I found the course very interesting and useful in looking for a job as a medical secretary. Gill’s medical terminology knowledge is outstanding and there wasn’t any question that she couldn’t answer.

The presentation of the course was easy to understand and went at a pace you could follow. There were plenty of handouts so that you didn’t go home and wonder what you’ve just learnt.

The main thing about the course though is the friendly approach of Gill towards everybody and also passing my exam at the end of it! Made all the hard work worth while!

I can honestly say the course has provided me with so much information and knowledge that I am full of confidence and thoroughly enjoying my new job as medical secretary. The course has definitely provided me with the tools I need to succeed and go forward in my job. Gill builds an excellent rapport with clients and creates an informal and friendly atmosphere in which to learn – I would even go as far to say it’s fun!

A course not to be missed by anyone just starting out or anyone looking to extend their knowledge.

I attended the Mediterm AMSPAR Medical Terminology Course on 5 consecutive Mondays at Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust Headquarters.

The course was both educational and entertaining and was delivered by a dedicated and experienced tutor, Gill Critchley. Gill’s deliverance of the course ensured full understanding of the project and scope to achieve the outcomes we were seeking. Gill gave us the confidence and belief of the ability to achieve the qualification requirements by successfully completing an approved course.

I am writing this testimonial as I feel well-qualified to comment on Gill’s AMSPAR Medical Terminology Course, by virtue of the fact that I attended all the sessions and took the final examination, gaining a Pass with Credit (all due to Gill’s excellent tuition).

The course was extremely interesting and well-planned, and I found Gill to be an excellent communicator. Her handouts were detailed and informative and her classes were practical and engaging and right on target. She kept everyone in the class interested and wanting to participate.

The part I enjoyed most was the afternoon revision sessions where we took it in turns to take an abbreviation card out of a bag and tell the rest of the class what the abbreviation stood for.

Although the course was very intensive and there was a lot of home learning to do, Gill made the course fun and left me wanting to learn more. I was rather sad when it came to an end.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this course not only to anyone wanting to further their career as a Medical Secretary, but also to anyone working in any job connected with Healthcare.

As someone who has completed the Mediterm Online AMSPAR approved Medical Terminology Course I can highly recommend it. Having only worked for 4 months as a Medical Secretary before starting this, my medical knowledge was fairly limited. However week by week as I studied the ten modules I gained a real understanding of the different systems in the body and built up an extensive medical vocabulary. This is due to the way the modules are written. Instead of feeling overwhelmed wading through hundreds and hundreds of pages in a textbook not quite knowing what you need to learn, you are given manageable blocks of information which are specifically geared to the exam and which are written in a clear and concise way. In addition every step of the way Gill is there to answer any queries you may have, to give you the encouragement you need and the occasional prod if you are falling behind. I can honestly say that when I took the exam in May I felt confident that I could pass it, something I would never have believed at the beginning of the course!

I found the online course to be well structured, informative and easy to follow. The structure content is laid out in a clear and orderly manner, and as such this made it very straight forward when progressing through the required units. Gill Critchley was always on hand to answer any questions I had, or talk me through any more complicated areas. I would highly recommend it for any budding Medical Secretaries.
